A majority think some additional housing is needed for Molland – up to 30 new properties. Requirements were for housing for local people, the young, first time buyers, the elderly and low income families.

ACTION

To report the results to North Devon District Council and the Molland Estate.

PARISH HALL

A firm majority considered that the Parish Hall was essential to the local Community. There was an element that thought that certain facilities were inadequate, some of the requests were for a new kitchen, interior refurbishment, new toilets, disabled facilities and bar facilities.

ACTION

The comments to be forwarded to the Parish Hall Committee to be considered at their next meeting and also to the Parish Council who are the trustees of the Hall. The committee could investigate the possibility of grant funding for the schemes raised.

SOCIAL ACTIVITIES/ADULT EDUCATION

There were several requests made for social activities and adult education classes to take place in Molland.

  • There is large support for the Garden Club, Dramatics MADS (Molland Amateur Dramatic Society) and Photography.
  • There was a significant requirement for vocational/adult training including information technology/computing, art, languages and keep fit.

ACTION

  1. Garden Club is developing, interest in Drama to be passed onto MADS Committee and to try and identify person to co-ordinate a new photography club.
  2. Approaches to be made to the Community Education Tutor to provide the relevant courses in Molland

RESULTS SO FAR

Funding has been secured from Rural Action for the first phase of the development.

The project is underway with an anticipated opening by in 2000.

CELEBRATING THE MILLENNIUMCelebration Graphic

A large majority would like to celebrate the Millennium with a large percentage supporting the idea of a party, tree planting, a parish register and a new church clock.

ACTION

Party plans are being developed and any ideas or volunteers to assist in organising the party are encouraged to come forward.

Church Clock GraphicSub-Committee to be formed to prepare and produce a Parish Register.

Tree planting to be discussed with the Estate and possible funding bodies i.e. NDDC forestry etc. Ideas on sites designs to be put forward and to make an application to the Devon Trust for the Millennium Tree Planting Fund who are approving the planting of new tree clumps.

The Church Clock to be discussed with the Parish Council.

Those people who said they would be prepared to give their time and money for Millennium projects are asked to make themselves known.
