GENERAL
199 (22%) people in Marldon perform voluntary work of some kind. It is quite possible that the actual figure is higher because some people who regularly help their neighbours did not seem to consider this "voluntary work"!
HOW WOULD YOU LIKE MARLDON TO DEVELOP?
Of the 8 possibilities listed the most commonly ticked answers were:
1) "Stay as it is" mentioned by 57% of people.
2) "Balanced community" mentioned by 54% of people.
(Note: these add up to more than 100% because more than one box could be ticked).
These two answers were followed a long way behind by a "Working Community" (10% of people) whilst the other answers barely scraped up 10% between them.
So there is strong support within the community for the status quo to be maintained
.‘Ideas:
1. A Marldon Helpline phone number for central queries, i.e. car sharing to places other than bus routes.
2. A ‘What’s On’ in Marldon.
3. Could the village sustain a weekly market with produce, second-hand clothes, bric-a-brac, bakery and bottles, garden produce, teas and a weekly meet?
4. A literary group (novel reading and discussion monthly)’
‘I would like to see more facilities for young children and teenagers, and I feel that what facilities there are at present are not well published’.
