The table below shows the travel to work pattern of respondents.

75% use their cars to go to work, whilst only 5% are able to use the bus, which reflects the paucity of service. Ownership of a car is apparently vital to be able to get to work.

Your General Comments

‘Build something we haven’t got already, i.e. park, hard play area’

‘I like the village as it is already’

‘I don’t know what the Council spend its taxes on, but it would be nice to be informed beforehand’

‘Milton Abbot is a unique village. Great care should be taken so as not to spoil its character or buildings’

‘This village should remain as a small rural community but we urgently need more facilities for children and young adults’

‘It is not surprising that they get into trouble when they have nothing to do’

‘I think we should have a large Christmas tree near the Church gate or the school railings’

‘Dog owners in the village should be made to clear up the mess, and if they walk them they should take them to a specific area. Any owner who ignores this should be made to clear up their dog’s mess. It makes it look as if nobody cares’

‘Thank you to all the people who use their valuable free time for the benefit of the village’

‘Milton Abbot has a good cricket club with good facilities, and well organised, yet few villagers support it by playing or watching’

‘Do not build any more places for tourists to stay and overcrowd the village as a rural community'

‘We need goalposts for the playground so that the shelter is not used’

‘Netball posts and a climbing frame would be useful’

‘Cricket club could encourage a junior team (we have a cricket pitch). We need a football field, and how about a bowling green or tennis court?’

‘We need a fenced off area with swings and slides for the under five children’

‘A map and guide of circular walks with duration and accessibility for pushchairs would be useful’

‘Traffic must be slowed down through village’

‘Milton Abbot needs to keep its ‘quaint’ character’
