HOUSING
94 households are in rented accommodation representing 21% of households. 44 households
indicated they were in need of alternative accommodation. 9 Wanter starter homes to rent or
buy and 26 wanted family homes to rent or buy. 6 wanted residential care or sheltered housing.
Only 8 household members had moved from the area for housing reasons indicating other people may
have preferred to wait until suitable local housing was available.
Particular attention is drawn to the need for additional rented accommodation for 37 people or
13 households. 10 are onthe needs register and 7 have been for more than a year. 30 indicated
that a rent range of £ 40 to £ 80 per week was acceptable. In an area where vacant
privately owned accommodation is often used as holiday accommodation, bringing a higher financial
return, there may exist a need for housing association development to meet the demand.
EMPLOYMENT
Only 29% of adult respondents are employed and a further 26% are self-employed, 27% are wholly
retired and only 3% are unemployed. This is a very low level of unemployment though in winter
many mauy not be in full-time employment.
41% work at home, 32% elsewhere in the parish and 27% outside the parish with most of these
travelling up to 30 miles for their work.
