A resounding 93% of respondents (640 people) think thatthe old school site should be developed
for community use. In particular it is seen by 88% of those wanting facilities for pre-school
education as providing the best site.
All the suggestions listed on the questionnaire received support and the sctivities that people
would most like to see provided are;
| Activity | People |
|---|---|
| Youth Club | 327 |
| Youth drop-in centre | 567 |
| Brownies/Guides | 251 |
| Senior citizen group | 233 |
| Cubs/Scouts | 231 |
| Mother and toddler group | 211 |
| Function room | 205 |
| Horticultural society | 204 |
The activities which people would be most likely to use are, however, somewhat different although all activities listed received enough support to make them viable. In all but one case (Choral Society) there were poeple willing to organise the activity. The activities which most people would take part in are;

|---|---|
| IT facility | 156 |
| Conservation group | 134 |
| Dance group | 119 |
| Painting and drawing | 105 |
| Photography | 100 |
There was a question also on sporting activities although this was confined to indoor activities of the sort that could possibly be provided in a community centre. Most people did not express an interest but there are enough people interested in each particular category to make it viable. There are also people willing to organise all the activities. Those with most support are;
| Activity | People |
|---|---|
| Keep fit | 224 |
| Badminton | 169 |
| Skittles | 126 |
| Table tennis | 113 |
The results of the survey show that there is an urgent need for additional recreational facilities within the village. There is no doubt that there is considerable support for a wide range of activities both from those wishing to participate and potential organisers. There is an overwhelming majority in favour of the use of the old primary school to accommodate the demand for additional facilities.
