SECTION A - GENERAL ISSUES
Housing
People were asked what kind of housing Landkey needs. 660 people responded and the table below
shows what they felt;
| No housing is needed | 38% |
| Large family housing | 4% |
| Housing for local people | 22% |
| Housing for young people | 15% |
| Housing for the elderly | 10% |
| Housing for low income families | 10% |
| Other | 2% |
There is a strong feeling that further development is not wanted in the village, but if further building is permitted it should be provided specially for local or young people.
A very small percentage (4%) of people living in Landkey felt the need to look for alternative accommodation.
Employment
Only 2% of the 658 poeple who answered this question are unemployed. About half are either employed or self-employed while about a quarter are wholly retired.
Employment is fairly evenly spread over the different types of employment and a large majority (85%) work or study at home or within 10 miles of their home.

60 people run their own business, 22 of them within Landkey. Most of these businesses (81%) expect their workforce to remain the same over the next 12 months, while a further 17% expect their workforce to increase. There seem to be very few problems recruiting staff.
Of the 39 people at present seeking work, 12 are looking for unskilled work, 10 for professional/managerial and a few for each of the other types. Most people have been looking for work for less than six months (13) and 7 have not yet looked, 8 people have been looking for more than a year and 8 for 6-12 months. A mixture of length of hours is required.
5 respondents said they intended becoming self-employed in the next 12 months. Lack of start up finance and lack of premises are the most frequently given barriers to becoming self-employed.
