The Kingsbridge Community Appraisal questionnaire was delivered by volunteers to households on the Kingsbridge Electoral Roll. Over 65% of the households completed and returned the questionnaires. The households responding comprised 3150 people, of whom 2791 were over 10 years old and therefore eligible to respond to the questions.

This report provides a summary of the results together with recommendations embodied in the text and some relevant comments from respondents. The conclusions are YOURS. All other comments contained on the questionnaires have been noted separately and will be used either in connection with the recommendations in this document or considered separately by the Town Council or other appropriate bodies.

Most of the issues identified in this Appraisal have attracted high levels of support and the amount of work required to bring them to a successful conclusion varies. Most projects will require careful analysis before they can proceed and some are more long-term than others. Some may prove unachievable. It will be important to strike a balance between providing up to date facilities within the Town and retaining the important characteristics that make Kingsbridge unique.

Therefore, this document will form an agenda for the people of Kingsbridge for the next 5 years or more. Regular review of progress will be made by the Town Council as well as recognising new and changing circumstances as they emerge.

Recommendation: Annual Town meetings should demonstrate progress and developments.

Throughout the document, percentage responses have been shown in brackets when used in conjunction with numbers responses. In most cases, this refers to those people "expressing an opinion", referred to as "respondents". The full list of results is lodged with the Town Council and the Community Council of Devon.

Recommendation: The list should be available for study on request. A single sheet summary to be put through every door.
