Summary & Future Ideas

Housing

Most people want to see little or no growth in housing. However there is a small need for a broad mix of alternative accommodation.

Education

There is a considerable interest in computing/technology classes and there is interest in these and others being run in the Parish. The idea of a playgroup received significant support.

Employment

People would like to see more jobs in the Parish. These could be traditional home based jobs, or involving only small scale light industrial developments. There is already a large number of self-employed people here.

Medical Care

The biggest concern reported is over access to care. We must be aware of neighbours' difficulties in keeping appointments, particularly if living away from the A386 main road and bus route.

Leisure

There is very strong support for a new football pitch and other facilities, particularly a play area, to be developed in the Parish. There is good support for an annual Parish event and for one or more new clubs to be started. In order to succeed with any of the proposed Millennium Celebrations, action is required now.

Religion

Our Church and Chapel are important to a majority in the Parish. People are interested in using them for other activities and are prepared to help with maintenance.

Transport

People are looking for improved public transport. However, major priorities include effective information on existing services in order to increase their usage and keep them running.

Environment

Several concerns have been expressed and well supported and each of them warrants further investigation. Enthusiasm has been shown for further improving the trees and the footpaths in the Parish.

Law and Order

The Inwardleigh Neighbourhood Watch scheme is now "known" to all Parish households. It is hoped that the 84 respondents previously unaware of this initiative may now be encouraged to join and strengthen the scheme.
