Post Office & Mobile Library Services

Of 156 people that use the Post Offices, 65 use them more than 5 times per month.

Few people (23 only) take advantage of the Mobile Library Service. Since 74 people said they were not aware of this service, perhaps more publicity is needed.

Local Government

Overall satisfaction with the response and assistance from local government Committees/Offices was recorded from the majority of persons replying to the questionnaire. Only between 5% and 9% of those replying recorded dissatisfaction with Parish/District/County Council contacts.

When dealing with local issues, most parishioners felt happier contacting Parish Councillors than they did approaching District/County Councillors. Only a few indicated their willingness to contact an MP about local issues.

I would like to see the area around the War Memorial, especially the track, improved and maintained. "

General

Parish Information

Improving the availability of information about Inwardleigh (for both residents and visitors) was considered by 262 respondents to be a good idea. In this respect the Okehampton Times was considered to be the best information medium, but there was also support for information to be provided by the Northmoor News and for the use of notice boards, grapevine letters and for an annual information sheet.

Millennium Celebrations

The most popular proposal for celebrating the new millennium was to convene and organise an official Celebration Day and/or hold a party. Other proposals to mark the occasion included the production of a Parish map and/or a Parish historical pamphlet and the creation of a Millennium Walkway. All these alternative suggestions received good support.

Re Millennium Walkway: "This is a very good idea ... more than just a few hundred metres please."

Future Parish Development

Of the options proposed, most people (189) voted for Inwardleigh to develop as a balanced community, 111 people would like to see the Parish stay as it is and 112 would like to see it develop as a working community.

Any suggestion that the Parish should develop a bias toward predominantly retirement or commuter lifestyles received scant support.
