Most people (66-68%) had no opinion on out-of-school activities for children, but of those that did, opinion was mainly either reasonable or poor for all ages, with facilities for 16-18’s seen as particularly poor:

Opinion was split on the need for an All-weather Sports Court in the Play Park, 48% of those expressing an opinion saying yes, and 52% saying No.

‘An all-weather sports court would be great’

‘There is no need for an all-weather sports court now that Scoriton Village Hall provides an indoor sports court. Who would volunteer to run and maintain it and who wants to play tennis in the rain anyway?’

BenchThere was a lot of desire for benches and picnic tables in Play Park along with requests for regular rolling and more trees.

‘Something needs to be done in Play Park – not a lot has since the last Appraisal in 1985’

Holne Fete and ‘Villages in Action’ events proved to be popular with 84% (119 people) wanting the Fete to continue.

106 people (77%) wanted more Villages in Action events. Music came out top 91% Arts and Crafts (86%) then Theatre (75%).

30 people (22%) attend activities in the Village Hall once a week, and (14, 10%) 2-3 times a month; the majority (65, 47%) less often, and 20% (28) never.

Recommendation: ACTION NEEDED, discuss at Public Meeting.
