Health & Social Services The majority of health & social services were felt to be good by respondents. However, the following were described as poor by more than 10% of respondents who had used services: care manager (3 people - 25%); health visitor (8 people - 20%); mental health (1 person - 20%); visiting optician (2 people - 17%); patient participation group (1 person - 11%). It should be noted that the very low number of users for some of these services means responses may not be representative of any real problem. The following services were reported as good by 90% or more of respondents who had used services: district nurse (115 people - 92%); practice nurse (285 people - 92%); meals on wheels (19 people - 91%) and Blackdown Support Group (69 people - 90%). These services should be congratulated on this excellent feedback. Overall, people did not report major problems in getting to health service provision. However, a small number of people are often having problems and some occasionally do so. (see Chart below) Chart showing Respondents Difficulties in Accessing Medical Services
The Parish Council precept is roughly £10,000 per annum, collected as part of your Council Tax. The survey asked if parishioners would be prepared to pay more to fund local projects. 112 people (21%) had no opinion on this question. 170 people - 41% of those who did have an opinion said they would pay more Council Tax and 246 people - 59% of those with an opinion, said they wouldn’t. 385 people (73%) agreed with the Parish Council that more powers should be devolved from the District or County Councils to the Parish Council. 57 people (11%) disagreed, and 87 (17%) had no opinion. A proposal to employ someone to keep the village clean was outlined, and respondents were asked if they would accept a small increase in their Council Tax bill to pay for this. 77 people (14%) had no opinion. 283 people - 62% of those with an opinion said they would pay more and 177 people - 38% of those with an opinion, wouldn’t want to. A large number of respondents wrote in additional comments on their surveys. The comments made covered a huge range of issues and ideas. Comments have been read and recorded under the issue they were concerned with to give a picture of those issues that were most often brought up by respondents. The table below shows the main areas within which responses were made and the number of comments made under each issue.
