HOUSING

  • Liaison with local authority and Housing Association:
    • Recommended priorities:
      • For affordable local housing for young people.
      • For sheltered home accommodation for elderly.
      • Support for incorporation of green energy features.
      • Support for using traditional building styles.

SERVICES
  • Liaise with Police and Youth Worker concerning anti social behaviour.
  • Bus Shelter replacement – contact local council.
  • Set up working group to develop CCTV options (industrial estate).
  • Contact volunteers to discuss offers of help in the community.
  • Contact Primary Care Trusts to discuss NHS Dentist provision.

LOCAL ECONOMY

  • Local food development a priority.
  • Set up working group to develop links with local food producers.
  • Liaise with agencies about possibility of small industrial/retail units for start

up businesses.

  • Explore retail options for town.
  • Town hall – research possible uses for tourism development.
  • Tourism research for improving tourist facilities.

LOCAL ACTIVITIES/ SPORTS AND LEISURE

  • Youth Facilities – set up working group involving Youth Worker and young people.
  • Rebuild existing skate park – short-term solution.

  • Discuss priorities of acceptable additional employment.

PUBLIC TRANSPORT

  • Liaise with West Devon Transport Forum.
  • Discuss Community Bus options – links to outlying villages.
  • Improved transport to Hospital.

TRAFFIC AND HIGHWAYS

  • Liaise with Police/Council Highways Dept/ Safety Officer.
  • Analyse danger spots and specific parking restricted areas.

ENVIRONMENT AND PLACES

  • Investigate feasibility of Community Woodland options.
  • Set up group to look at Community Composting Scheme.
  • Illumination of Church – Heritage Scheme.
  • Market Square working group to continue its work.
