Survey Results

The results follows the layout of the questionnaire. Tables are included within the body of the text giving the responses.

Part One - Household

Q1
Half of our village is made up of couples, 21% live alone, 12% live in a household of three people, 15% in a household of 4 people. Households larger that four people are few.

Q2
The age spread is as the table below. Boys and young men outnumber girls and young and young women, but after age 22 this is reversed. There is a remarkable balance of the sexes except in the 17-21 age range where there are more than 4 young men for every young women. Sorry lads!

Q3
Only 8.5% of households need alternative accommodation. Of those 43% need a family home to buy, with sheltered housing next at 17%, family home to rent being 15%, starter home to rent and other tying at 11%.

Q4
only 2.6% of families had moved because of lack of suitable housing. Of these, the lack of a starter home to buy - 33%, or to rent - 25% was the main reason.

Q5
82% of those with children of primary school age will send them to Exminster, the rest going to other Local Authority or Private/Prep schools

Q6
Regarding car ownership, 59% of households have one car, 36% have two, 4% 3, 1% 4. 24 respondents also said they had a motorcycle.

Where are these parked? 42% are parked in a garage, 44% off the road, 1.6% in a public car park. Only 12.4% of respondents admit to parking on the road, though that represents 79 households.

Q7
Development sites. The vast majority said NO to further development within the village.
