Activities considered suitable for visitors to the area were:

Education

83 people would be interested in vocational training, split by the following subjects:

  • 49 people want new technology / computing training
  • 30 people want skilled / craft related training
  • 15 people want professional / managerial training
  • 13 people want rural / agricultural skills training

General

The mobile library is used by 13 people on every visit and by 25 less frequently.

106 people would like a café.

40 people say a baby-sitting scheme is needed.

The notice board in the village was read by 95 (40%) once a fortnight, 48 (20%) monthly and 56 (23%) less often. 45 (18%) never look at it.

The suggestion of a quarterly newsletter was well received. Help towards publishing his was offered with 48 people willing to deliver it, 23 to write articles, 16 to edit it, 13 to type it, 6 to do art work, 8 to help with advertising, 2 with publicity, 2 with printing and 1 person had other help to offer.

Recommendations

Where people have filled in their ‘offer of help’ slips to follow these up.

A meeting to be held to discuss the points raised in the Health and Social Services section to see if help can be arranged where there are difficulties.

As great interest appears to be expressed in a village newsletter to ask those who have offered help to maybe form some sort of committee to produce one.
