A total of 109 (51%) would like to see more jobs available in the Parish.

65% (120) of those expressing an opinion thought that light industrial workshops would be an asset to the area. 10 people would like to become self-employed but state lack of back up finance and premises as reasons for not being able to.

The biggest employer in the parish is the Tourism/Hotel trade (16) although 46% (43) put ‘other’ in this category.

A total of 34 people have paid work at home, 16 elsewhere in the Parish, 25 within 8 miles and 36 over 9 miles away.

There are 42 people running businesses in the Parish of which 15 are self-employed only and the rest employ 30 people. Businesses are mainly in Agriculture (13), Professional Services (8) and Hotels/Catering (8).

There is a high (35%) wholly retired population (84 people) with 22% (52 people) being self employed and (11%) 27 people being unwaged.

Transport & Highways

The 126 households have 194 vehicles, most of which are parked off-road or in the car parks. 51% have two or more vehicles, 42% have one and 7% have no car. 61% of us see no need for more parking spaces.

21 people are often dependent upon others for transport, and 39 occasionally. A need for a volunteer car service scheme was identified by 76 people.

The main outcome of this section seems to be a need for a bus service to Dartmouth, especially for shopping. 63 of us would use a more regular service at least weekly. 30 of us would use a Shuttle to the Sportsmans Arms weekly instead of a car if it linked to the public service.

Traffic

Lower speed limits are wanted in Capton (57%) and Dittisham (59%), but 61% of us see no need for more parking spaces.
