RELIGION
Results of the survey found that:
- 122 respondents did not see the need for any reform in the role of either the Anglican or the Methodist Churches.
- 22 respondents felt there was a need for both Churches to be more involved in the Community.
- 11 respondents thought that services of renewal of marriage vows as a way forward into the next millennium.
- Others supported the ideas of recitals, poetry readings, healing, and Mother and toddler groups organised by both Churches.
Recommendation
The Parish Council to pass on the findings of the survey to the respective Churches.
TRANSPORT AND TRAFFIC
Results of the survey show that:
- 29 people are dependent on others for transport.
- 24 people would use a daily bus service to Totnes.
- 50 people would use a weekly bus service to Totnes.
- 28 people would use a weekend bus service to Totnes.
- 12 people would use a daily bus service to Dartmouth.
- 27 people would use a weekly bus service to Dartmouth.
- 19 people would use a weekend bus service to Dartmouth.
- 78 people would use the Harbourne Shuttle if it was more regular.
- 60 people would use the Shuttle, if it was more flexible.
- 12 people would use a local taxi service once a week. (156 occasionally).
" Possible to organise a shared lift system"
People would use a bus service to get to work, school/college, weekly shopping, weekend social/leisure activities and for evening entertainment.
Recommendations
- The Parish Council to pass on data to local bus companies and chairman of the Harbourne Shuttle Committee.
- Parish to explore the possibility of operating a daily shared lift system to Totnes/Dartmouth.
TRAFFIC PROBLEMS
Results of the survey showed that there are problems over speeding and parked cars.
- 61% of respondents think more parking spaces are needed.
- 58% of respondents think street parking is a hazard.
- 53% of respondents think that speed on Parish roads is a hazard.
"Less cars, not more parking" "Be more considerate when parking"
"3 cats killed in 2 years"
Recommendations
- The Parish council to pass data to County Council Highways Dept.
- The PC to seek advice/discuss traffic and parking problems with local Police Traffic Dept. in pursuit of workable solutions.
