Village Hall
The Village Hall plays an important part in the life of the Community.
- 180 people use it.
- 56 people use it regularly
- 124 people use it occasionally
- 141 (82%) people think it should be refurbished
- 90 (63%) think it is OK
- 26 (20%) would like a new village hall

"Better recreational facilities for youngsters"
Uses are divided into those activities which need the use of the whole hall i.e. gym, indoor sports, social functions, youth and playgroup activities. There is a need for a small meeting room.
Key activities are:
- 63 people would use the hall weekly as a gym/fitness centre.
- 50 people would use the hall weekly for IT training.
- 48 people would use the hall weekly for indoor sports.
- 22 people would use the hall weekly as a Youth space.
- 18 people would use the hall weekly as a meeting place.
- 15 people would use the hall weekly for Toddlers activities.
Recommendations
- There is no great enthusiasm for an additional hall or refurbishment of the Methodist Hall.
- That the Village Hall Committee continue with refurbishment, and investigate the feasibility of a smaller meeting room.
The Village Hall caters for a variety of indoor sports, but there is no suitable outdoor sports area in the Parish. In the survey there were:
- 63 people who saw a need for a Gym and Fitness Centre.
- 48 people who saw a need for extended indoor sports activities.
The need for a Play Area was identified for:
- 0-4 year olds (10 often/17 occasionally)
- 5-10 year olds (26 often/24 occasionally)
- 11-16 year olds (16 often/25 occasionally)

Recommendations
That a suitable site be found for a play area for younger children.
A flat area for more active sport.
LOCAL GOVERNMENT
Results from the survey show that:
- 60% of respondents want to know more about what happens at Parish and District Council meetings.
- 25% of respondents would like to meet on a regular basis their District and County Councillors.
- 30% of respondents would like to meet on a regular basis their local MP.
- 60% of respondents would like to know how the Parish Finances are spent.
- 33% of respondents were happy with the way things were done.
Other findings:
- 23 out of 242 respondents are willing to stand as Parish Councillors. (Large increase over previous years).
- 91% (excluding no opinion) of respondents thought that owners of second homes should pay the full Council Tax.

Recommendations
- The Parish Council review their methods of communicating with their electorate over parish matters.
- The PC to pass on the data found in the survey to District and County Councils
- The PC to pass on data found in the survey to the local MP.
- The PC to encourage the electorate to read the minutes of Parish Council meetings posted on the village notice board in Alexandria Place in the middle of Cornworthy.
- The PC to explore the possibility of developing an ‘Information Pack’ on the role of the PC.
