ENVIRONMENT

Recycling GraphicThe vast majority of people (93%) are prepared to recycle and since the questionnaire, the District Council has started a green box scheme, although the outlying areas have not yet been included. We hope that EDDC complete the distribution so that everyone has the opportunity to participate.

Litter Bin GraphicJust over half of us think there should be more litter bins, and about the same number would be prepared to help in a Parish clean up.

“Too old - willing if I could!”

“We pay enough Council Tax to cover this!”

TRANSPORT & HIGHWAYS

Motorway Junction Graphic This section attracted the most additional comments from those completing the questionnaire, perhaps because the very bad winter had resulted in significant maintenance problems.

Just over half of us feel that speeding traffic is a problem, with the volume of school traffic and the safety of pedestrians and horse riders being matters for concern. The majority think that road signs are adequate. About 1/5th feel there is a need for a one-way system, almost all of whom nominated Storridge Lane.

“ONE-WAY SYSTEM - What a stupid idea”

“There are very few road or lane names.”

“Get skateboards off the pavements & roads.”

Very few people use the bus services, although there is almost universal approval of the Flexibus’s route and its reliability. Some people would like more outlying areas to be included [then perhaps more people would use it ! Eds.].

The need for a bus shelter and for street lighting to be timed -eg. off at midnight – both attract some support. But the majority of people feel that the street lighting is adequate. 50% think there is no need for a car park in the village centre and 50% think there is!
