EDUCATION

Adult Education

A large majority expressed no interest in adult or vocational education. Of 441 responses only 29% (127) had an interest in some form of training. The main interests given were:

  • Computing/IT 67
  • Skilled/craft 40
  • Professional 31
  • Rural skills 20
  • Other 39

I.T. EducationAbout a quarter of people think adult learning provision is reasonable but 17% consider there to be no provision. The majority of people could get to Tavistock (95%) with 52% able to get to Plymouth.

A few people added that availability of foreign language courses would be welcome.

Recommendation: Pass this information to Adult Education and Training College.

Primary education

There is very strong support for the parish primary schools, with 87% saying they are very important and 11% that they are important. Only 2% consider our village primary schools not to be important. This must be made known to Devon County Council.

Special needs provision

58% (257) of people have no view on special needs provision, but of those that do, 63% (115) say provision is adequate, and 37% (68) say it is not.
