HOMES The response to this section was from 32% of households. 7% of the 224 householders responding identified their locations as ‘other’ than the villages of Meavy, Walkhampton, Sheepstor or Dousland.
Most vehicles in most settlements were parked off the road at night. Walkhampton was the exception. Is there a parking problem in Walkhampton? Accommodation was a problem for some of our people. 22 needed alternative accommodation, 3 immediately. Our elderly people are looking for more appropriate housing. Five want sheltered housing and one requires residential care. The need for sheltered housing has resulted in three people leaving our parish. ‘… warden overseen elderly person bungalows in Meavy village wanted’ Over the whole area 48% favoured no change in housing provision. 39% favoured provision for starter homes for people born in the parish. 28% favoured provision for only the young of the parish. ‘I would move but not leave the village. My friends all live here’ In Sheepstor 50% of respondents favoured provision of up to 10 new homes. ‘… starter homes for our local folk born here’ 22 who responded needed alternative accommodation, 13 within the parish and 12 within 10 miles of the parish. 6 would consider shared equity.
