Bishop's Nympton Community Appraisal

THE REPORT

Report on Community Appraisal for Bishop's Nympton Parish

On 6th May 1997, a public meeting was called by the Parish Council to gain support within the parish to carry out an appraisal to canvas opinion on how the Parishioners views the future of the parish and the level of support for sports facilities and a new or improved parish hall.

From the 48 people who attended, a steering group was formed whose first job was to put together a questionnaire. The steering group was set up to guide the appraisal to allow the inhabitants of Bishop's Nympton Parish to express their views on how their village and surrounding area should develop by identifying an action plan for their implementation. This Action Plan will be discussed at a public meeting.

The questionnaire was distributed in September 1997 by a brave band of volunteers, and we would like to take this opportunity to thank all those who took the time and trouble to respond, in particular those at Miil on the Mole and the others on the parish outskirts.

There was inevitably criticism of the format of the questionnaire from some, but the fact that 517 people responded has made it a worthwhile excercise.

Many parishioners completed the questionnaire and this is to help shape the furture of the parish then this is only the beginning and everyone's continued participation is essential to put into practice the concensus of opinion to date.
