Introduction
This report is a summary of the findings of the Village Appraisal Survey, which was delivered to all the households in Bere Ferrers Parish. The survey itself was developed with the guidance and support of the Community Council of Devon, but was also based on suggestions made by local residents.
1,349 people in 665 households took part in the survey. Although many people did not answer all the questions, this is a good response, and gives a worthwhile picture of how local residents feel about a range of issues in their parish. 581 of the households responding were in Bere Alston, with 113 in Bere Ferrers and the remaining 31 elsewhere in the parish. For a number of reasons, it has taken a little longer for the report to be produced than was originally planned. Nevertheless, we hope the findings are of interest, and can be used to help plan for the future well-being of the Bere peninsula.
The ages of those who completed the survey were as follows:
| 11 - 16 years | 17 - 21 years | 22 - 39 years | 40 - 59 years | Over 60 |
| 8% | 6% | 18% | 34% | 34% |
A copy of this report is being distributed to households throughout the Parish, as well as to a range of relevant organisations.
It is important that the findings of this parish appraisal are followed by action. This can be achieved in a number of ways:-
