SUMMARY

A few people were concerned about the complexity of the Appraisal and the use that could be made of the information it contained.

The following comment from one respondent perhaps best summarises the value of carrying out the Appraisal: -

"As a Bamptonian for over 50 years I would like to thank you for giving me the chance of airing my views....for the first time. I am very impressed with the way the questionnaire is compiled in as much as the most relevant points of concern to me are covered."

The facts and figures in this report will provide useful information to: -

  • Bampton Town Council
  • Mid-Devon District Council
  • Devon County Council
  • Local Businesses
  • Local Clubs and Societies

Bampton is……… what is fast disappearing……… a true working village’

‘……..as near unspoiled as you can get’

Anyone who would like more detailed information on specific topics from the Appraisal should contact a member of Bampton Town Council who will be able to put them in touch with someone who can help.

As we approach the beginning of the 21st Century, it is apparent that there is a powerful community spirit in Bampton, through which large numbers of volunteers support local projects of all kinds. Bampton is nationally distinguished for its numerous awards in Britain in Bloom competitions, achieved by a small army of local helpers.

Equally successful have been the fund-raising appeals - for Children in Need, sponsored charity walks, church tower appeals. At present there are concerted efforts to obtain planning permission for the development and management of a Millennium Green - a public Open Space for everyone to enjoy.

The town is at its best when involved in these community endeavours - long may they continue.
