How many cars do we have?
There are 321 cars in 224 households (an average of 1.4 cars per household). there are 18 motorbikes in the Parish. 199 households use a car for work/education. This means there must be people isolated at homee without transport who rely on the bus?
114 houses have a garage and 102 don't. 102 people say they keep their car in the garage by day (115 at night). 173 people say they park off the road and 41 park on the road. Only 1 person parks in Timbers car park and 13 in the Memorial Hall car park (there does seem to be more!).
Many people see parking to be a problem in the Village - see Traffic and Parking
Do we use the bus service?
| more than 20 times per month | 33 people |
| 11 - 20 times per month | 8 people |
| 5 - 10 times per month | 15 people |
| less than 5 times per month | 66 people |
308 (72%) people say they never use the bus,but 30% (126 people) say the bus service is essential or important.
A comment from one parishioner suggests a regular "hopper bus" provided specifically for parishioners to travel to Kingsbridge would be used in the place of cars if the price were right.
For Discussion: Parish Council to look at the need/viability of a community bus.
Are our house environmentally friendly
89% (194 households) have lagged hot water tanks, 82% (179 households) have loft insulation, 57% (123 households) have double glazing. Installing lagging/insulation could save us a lot of money
For Discussion: District Councillor to ask SHDC to publicise energy (cash!) saving measures and grant aid available in the Parish
Where do we work
A surprising number of people work from home
