Ashwater Parish Community Appraisal - 1997

Introduction

The Ashwater Community Appraisal has now been completed with the publication of this report. The questionnaire was sent to more than 175 homes throughout the parish, with 150 replies. This represents an 85% response. The report has been written to reflect the views of the parish as expressed in the replies submitted.

The publication of the report marks the start of the next, and perhaps most important, part of the appraisal process i.e. what is to be done about the findings and issues raised?

An open meeting will be held to discuss the report's findings and to decide the way forward.

The appraisal committee would like to thank everyone who contributed in any way to the work of the committee. A special thanks must be given to Mr Knight of the Community Council of Devon for all the help and guidance given to the project. The committee would also like to thank Barrie and Hazel Thomas of Ashwater Post Office for allowing the Post Office to act as a collecting point for completed questionnaires.

Finally, although the questionnaire was anonymous the Parish Council is anxious to trace the people who need alternative accommodation (question 3). It would be very helpful if these people would contact a member of the council.
