Welcome to the equality and diversity pages. You will find a range of information and resources here relating to our work on equality.
One of Devon's strengths is its diverse people and communities. Devon County Council will celebrate and harness this diversity by demonstrating respect, understanding and fairness.
We want Devon to be a county for everyone and we are committed to tackling discrimination and exclusion, promoting social justice and good community relations and ensuring fair access to our services. ('Valuing Everyone' - a core value of Devon County County).
Our Fair for All Programme (which acts as our Equality Scheme) intends to make this belief a reality.
The Evidence Base
(414KB - pdf help) (also available in large print) is a collection of research and consultation feedback used to develop our Fair for All Programme. It highlights a range of community issues and views.
We continue to welcome feedback on our Fair for All Programme and approach to equality. Please send your comments to the Corporate Equality Officer (details under 'Contact Us').

During 2008 we are raising money for a Hearing Dog. Our target is £5,000 and so far we have raised £1,514.85 through a variety of fundraising activities including cake sales! As well as raising the money for the dog we are raising awareness of deafness and British Sign Language, to support the Devon BSL Charter. The activities are being co-ordinated through the Deaf Awareness (staff) Group.
