Definitive Map Review
Colebrooke
The Wildlife and Countryside Act 1981 requires the County Council to keep the Definitive Map of public rights of way under continuous review and to make modifications where it appears that routes should be added, amended or deleted.
A review of the Definitive Map and Statement of Public Rights of Way in Colebrooke started in 2006 and a consultation map was published in 2007 showing the existing recorded public rights of way and detailing 12 suggestions to modify the Definitive Map of Public Rights of Way in the parish of Colebrooke.
Reports on the suggestions were presented at the Public Rights of Way Committee between November 2007 and March 2010.
Modification Orders have been made for the following 4 routes
Footpath No. 20, Colebrooke (Church footpath) – confirmed November 2008
Byway Open to All Traffic no, 21, Colebrooke (byway to cemetery) – confirmed November 2008
Bridleway No. 24, Colebrooke (Lower Coombe Lane) – confirmed June 2009
Restricted Byway No. 22, Colebrooke (Great & Lower Wotton Lanes) – the order was made in September in 2008, received objections and is being determined by the Planning Inspectorate under the written representations procedure. The Inspector’s decision should be published Autumn 2010. http://www.planning-inspectorate.gov.uk/pins/row_order_advertising/councils/2010/devon_county_council.htm
Butsford Lane & Footpath 7, Colebrooke – negotiations have been taking place with regard to a public right of way being dedicated by the landowner along Butsford Lane and the diversion of Footpath No. 7, Colebrooke to the dedicated route. Refer to PROW Committee reports of March 2008, March 2009 and March 2010. http://www.devon.gov.uk/index/councildemocracy/decision_making/cma/index_prw.htm
