Will my products qualify?
It is accepted that raw materials cannot always be sourced from within the county. A key criteria is that ‘added value’ is undertaken here in Devon and constitutes the last principal process undertaken in the fabrication of the product.
As an example, an artist may paint on base material, e.g. paper or porcelain, which cannot be produced, or is not financially viable locally. However, the ‘added value’ comes from the skill of the Devon artist’s work, which is what the consumer seeks to purchase.
In addition products must comply with EU and UK origin marking, trading standards and consumer protection legislation.
How do I join the scheme?
Following your application you will be visited by a representative of Devon County Council's Trading Standards Service who will undertake an audit of your manufacturing processes.
The audit will seek to confirm that the goods you produce meet the criteria outlined above.
