What's Hot
So, are you driving your parents as barking mad as my sister and I are? I bet you are.
The reason? World Book Day!
My sister has to dress up as a book character again this year and I have to dress up as a book! I know, I don’t know where my teachers get these ideas from.
My sister wants to go as Wilma Tenderfoot from the book Wilma Tenderfoot and the Case of the Frozen Hearts. It’s by Emma Kennedy and is all about an orphan who is taken on as an apprentice by her hero who is a famous detective. (My sister needs a deerstalker, a notebook and magnifying glass but otherwise can wear her own clothes.)
I have been trying to make a giant book out of cardboard to wear. Mum has made what looks like a giant cereal box with holes in the sides for head arms and legs to stick out. Just have to decorate it now.
I want it to have a book pocket on the inside as well but Mum says I’m pushing my luck!
I have a few books in my pile of stuff to read that I wouldn’t mind getting a sneaky read at.
I have Throne of Fire by Rick Riordan. EVER since the gods of Ancient Egypt were unleashed on the modern world, Carter Kane and his sister, Sadie, have been in big trouble.
As descendants of the magical House of Life, they command certain powers. But now a terrifying enemy - Apophis, the giant snake of chaos - is rising. If Carter and Sadie don't destroy him, the world will end in five days' time. And in order to battle the forces of chaos, they must revive the sun god Ra - a feat no magician has ever achieved. Because first they must search the world for the three sections of the Book of Ra, then they have to learn how to chant its spells . . .
Can the Kanes destroy Apophis before he swallows the sun and plunges the earth into darkness . . . forever?
I also have a copy of Skulduggery Pleasant: The End of the World by Derek Landy to read. It’s a World Book Day Novelette so short and sweet and you can get your paws on a copy using your World Book Day token!
I hope you’re all going to send me photos of yourselves all dressed up for WBD. It might give my Mum some ideas for next year.
Better go, I have another sitting… bye!
