Database Trainng

A database is an organised collection of information relating to the same topic or subject matter.  It is a collection of data that is organized so that its contents can easily be accessed, managed and updated.  A database does not have to be kept on a computer.  An address book, a telephone directory or a card index system are all types of databases.

However by storing this type on information on a computer you can manipulate it quickly and easily.  For example using a paper telephone directory it would be easy to find all people with the same surname but more difficult to find all people that lived in a particular town.  An electronic database would allow you to search and quickly retrieve a list of all those people living in "Exeter".

Our training courses are designed to give the inexperienced user the basic skills to start producing simple databases.  You will create simple tables, design forms and reports and create simple queries.  For the more experienced user our courses allow you to create more complex tables, forms, reports and queries.

Devon County Council’s current standard database application is Microsoft Access XP.
