The adva partnership funds and delivers a range of domestic violence and abuse training programmes. These are primarily multi-agency courses but bespoke training programmes can be designed and delivered to meet needs.
Costs of the Domestic Violence and Abuse Training Courses
Before booking a course it is recommended that you read the terms and conditions for the courses.

Multi-agency
A one day multi-agency course for practitioners to examine the nature, scale and consequences of domestic violence and to how to take appropriate action, where possible. The course will raise awareness of the impact of domestic violence upon children and families, increase understanding of how best to offer help and support and raise standards of practice both individually and collectively.

Level 2 - Accredited Programme Course: Domestic Violence & Abuse - The Impact on Children (two days)
A two day multi-agency accredited course (OCN) for practitioners whose work engages them with children and young people. Delegates need to have attended the Level 1 course before undertaking Level 2. Delegates will need to attend two training days (9.00am-5.00pm) and commit 14 hours to complete a workbook (3½ hours per week for a four week period).

The MARAC Process in Devon - increasing safety for victims of domestic violence and abuse
(formerly Preventing Murder and Serious Harm in Domestic Violence & Abuse)
Please note that during November and December 2009, adva will be piloting a new half day multi-agency course called: 'The MARAC Process in Devon - increasing safety for victims of domestic violence and abuse' in place of our one day 'Preventing Murder and Serious Harm in Domestic Violence and Abuse' course.
There will be no charge to delegates who participate in the pilot courses, however please note that we require at least 3 weeks notice if you wish to cancel your place otherwise a charge of £63 will be incurred (i.e. the full cost of the course).
Delegates need to have attended the Level 1 course before undertaking The MARAC Process in Devon - increasing safety for victims of domestic violence and abuse.

A one day multi-agency course for practitoners who work with families. This course explores pattern of behaviour and belief systems of those who perpetrate domestic violence and abuse, the effects of these behaviours both on partners and on the helping agencies, and offers strategies to enable participants to challence perpetrators more effectively.
Cost of the Tackling Perpetrators in Domestic Violence and Abuse course
Most statutory and voluntary agencies within Devon will receive this training at a reduced price - i.e. £25 inclusive.
The exceptions to this are:
1 Delegates who work for all statutory and voluntary agencies from Torbay, Plymouth or outside Devon, who will be charged the full cost of £185 per delegate;
2) Delegates who work in the private sector (within or outside Devon), who will be charged £185 per delegate.
3) Delegates who work for most voluntary agencies within Devon (excluding Torbay or Plymouth), who will receive the training at no charge (but only three free spaces are offered per course).
NB There is a cancellation charge of £125 if 3 weeks' notice is not provided.
Delegates need to have attended the Level 1 course before undertaking Tackling Perpetrators of DVA.

Aims and Objectives of Perpetrators Course

The programme will examine the nature, scale and consequences of domestic violence and abuse and how to take appropriate action within the workplace. This course is practical and user-friendly. Participants will experience an enjoyable and productive workshop involving group discussion and participative exercises.
Cost of the Managers Tackling Domestic Violence and Abuse course
Most statutory and voluntary agencies within Devon will receive this training at a reduced price - i.e £25 inclusive.

This is a 2 hour specialist course for all staff working in and associated with schools. This course explores the affects of domestic violence and abuse on education, and offers strategies and preventions for schools. (This is an ideal taster session to influence and encourage attendance on the adva Level 1 Foundation, Tackling domestic violence and abuse course).

This course looks at risk assessment and domestic violence and abuse and offers strategies and preventions for GP practices.
