Devon County Council is committed to managing all forms of transport in the most efficient way possible. The delivery and collection of goods is essential to the economy, affects the quality of people's lives and also has an impact on the environment.

The Devon Freight Quality Partnership looks to continue the good works of our regional partnerships around the County, expanding to take a more strategic position in line with the issues being presented to Highway Authorities nationally.

Whilst national issues such as HGV routing and sat nav will be the initial focus, we will continue to work with hauliers to assist in the prompt movement of goods and to help ease the impact felt by communities.

What is a Freight Quality Partnership?
Freight Quality Partnerships comprise of representatives from local authorities, the freight industry, environmental groups, local businesses, the police and other interested bodies. The aim is to help develop an understanding of freight distribution issues and problems in Devon, and to promote constructive solutions taking account of the need for access for goods and services, and environmental and social concerns.

A balanced is needed between adequate access to services and the quality of life for the people using the local road network or living nearby. Freight Quality Partnerships are a good way of assessing and dealing with these issues.
