Childcare Investment Readiness Fund

The Department for Education has created a £500,000 pilot fund to support early years and childcare social enterprises looking to expand their presence in the early years' market. Read more on the Childcare Investment Readiness Fund page.

Cost of providing childcare review: call for evidence

The Department for Education are calling all early years settings to provide evidence of the actual cost of delivering an early year funded place. With the extension to a 30 hour entitlement from September 2017 for 3 and 4 year olds whose parents are in employment, many providers are expressing concerns that the current funding rates do not meet the actual cost of delivery.

Please take time to respond to this call by following this link. The final date for responses is 10 August 2015.

The Government wants to make it easier for schools to take 2 year-olds

The Government wants to make it easier for schools to take 2 year-olds. From 26th May 2015, providing a school’s two year old's provision meets the requirements for exemption, schools no longer needed to apply to register this separately with Ofsted. Ofsted should have contacted schools that already have a separate EY registration by Monday 25th May. If schools haven’t heard by then, they should email Ofsted using the following dedicated account: eyschools@ofsted.gov.uk.
