Definitive Map Review

The Wildlife and Countryside Act 1981 requires the County Council to keep the Definitive Map of public rights of way under continuous review and to make modifications where it appears that routes should be added, amended or deleted.

A review of the Definitive Map and Statement of Public Rights of Way was started in the parish in 1996. A report was taken to the Public Rights of Way Committee in September 1998 which recommend two changes to the Definitive Map and Statement for the Parish.

Two Modification Orders were made

  • Variation of Particulars for Footpath No. 54, Copplestone  - confirmed October 2009
  • Addition of a public footpath along the Copplestone/Sandford parish boundary along the route of the old Brandirons Lane  Footpath No. 26, Copplestone & Footpath No. 46, Sandford.

Objections and representations have been received to Footpath No. 46, Copplestone and Footpath No. 46, Sandford (Brandirons Lane) and it is anticipated that the Order will have to be submitted to the Planning Inspectorate for determination by an Inspector appointed by the Secretary of State.
