RELIGIOUS EDUCATION in Devon, Torbay and Plymouth Community and Voluntary Controlled Schools is taught in accordance with the local Agreed Syllabus. In voluntary aided schools, the religious education offered must be determined by the governors in accordance with the Trust Deed of the school. The Church of England Diocese of Exeter and the Roman Catholic Diocese of Plymouth have welcomed the publication of this syllabusThe Diocese of Exeter recommends the use of the syllabus in its Church of England Schools. Roman Catholic schools use their own nationally approved programme for religious education but will find the syllabus a useful source of reference.Schools in each of the three LEAs use this syllabus that has been developed collaboratively. The Plymouth Grid for Learning and the Torbay Grid for Learning are linked to this site.The schemes of work produced as non-statutory guidance as part of this Agreed Syllabus can be downloaded from this site to be adapted for use in a school.
