Devon is a county committed to improving facilities for cyclists and encouraging the use of cycles by new riders. Young people especially need to feel they have the skills to ride in busy traffic - and parents and carers need to feel confident that their children are equipped with the skills needed to cope with today's traffic.
Cycle training courses for young people in Devon are delivered by volunteers. The Road Safety and Travel Awareness Team offers FREE training courses, resources and safety equipment to anyone who wishes to become a cycle instructor. Some people get trained to instruct simply in order to ensure that there will be a course available for their own child. Others want to run courses for children in their community every year and find the experience hugely rewarding. Most cycle training courses are run through schools, to find out if your school runs courses please contact the Road Safety Helpdesk. For further information on Cycle instructor courses

Fit2Ride is a new free publication produced by the Road Safety and Travel Awareness Team. Fit2Ride is a “step by step” guide which shows all members of the family how they can become able and safe cyclists - regardless of their age or initial cycling ability. For more information
