Social Work Education
The Social Work Education Team provides a service to current and potential social workers within Devon County Council and on Social Work training courses with whom we have links.
This includes:
- Practice Learning – arranging and overseeing the provision of placements for social work students undertaking their qualifying training, as well as ensuring the appropriate assessment of those students. This includes the preparation and training of those who directly supervise social work students whilst on placement.
- The Traineeship Scheme – supporting the development of those identified as potential social workers within the Council, through qualifying training.
- Post Qualifying Awards – supporting qualified social workers in undertaking post qualifying training in children’s and adult social care and leadership and management. This includes the specific professional qualification for Approved Mental health Professionals.
- Other areas of individual and team development, including through the Team Learning Set programme, and programmes for Newly Qualified Social Workers in both adult and children’s services.
