FREE INFECTION CONTROL DVD AVAILABLE TO CARE HOMES IN THE STATUTORY, PRIVATE, VOLUNTARY AND INDEPENDENT SECTORS

The Health Protection Agency produced a DVD entitled "Introduction to infection control in care homes".

The DVD is designed to be used as a resource to supplement existing training programmes; for example, it can be used as part of an induction programme or as a refresher in this topic area.

The DVD lasts for approximately 40 minutes and is divided into the following seven sections:

  • Preventing infection
  • Hand hygiene
  • Person protective equipment
  • Prevention of exposure to blood and body fluids
  • Clinical equipment
  • General equipment
  • Management of laundry
