The Skid Pan Area

The skid pan is a tarmaced area approximately 100 metres in length by an average of 45 metres in width, used mainly to run Skid Prevention & Control Courses. It is also available for general manoeuvring practice (please check with the Centre office for availability).

The area has been specially marked with white lining to represent various road features such as bends, junctions and a roundabout. These markings emphasise the preventive aspects of the course by making participants more aware of the limited road width they would have in which to deal with a skid on the public highway.

The yellow box, shown in the plan below, is of the required size for the LGV driving test manoeuvring exercise.
