Pre Licence Course

Pre-Licence course

16 and wanting to drive?  Then our Pre-Licence Course may be just what you are looking for.
Spread over four afternoon sessions, each lasting around 3 hours, the course provides a foundation in the driving skills that you will put to use in later preparation for your driving test, and on taking the first steps in your driving career.

The majority of the course consists of practical, in-car training, taking place on the Devon Drivers’ Centre practice road circuit. This is interspersed with two short classroom sessions which deal with areas of driving that will be relevant to participants in their immediate driving futures. You will be working together in groups of up to three per car.

The course concludes with a classroom session lasting about 1½ hours, involving both you and a parent/guardian. The purpose of this session is to give participants and parents/guardians the chance to work together, building mutual awareness of the issues and problems that any newly-qualified young driver will face after passing their driving test.

Courses usually run on Saturday afternoons, except during school and college holidays when they will be run over four consecutive days of the week.

Some 20% of road crashes involve drivers aged between 18 and 21, even though they make up only around 5% of the total driving population. Devon Drivers' Centre's Pre-Licence and Pass Plus Plus courses are designed specifically to improve the skills and road awareness of new drivers.
