Cycling
Cycling is good for you, good for the environment and is fun too.
- Cycling is one of the easiest and most effective ways of getting fit and is also one of the few physical activities which can be undertaken by most people as part of a daily routine.
- Cycling is an ideal form of exercise for the body. It exercises heart, body and mind and can be enjoyed from age eight to 80. It is easy on body joints and can be done at any fitness level. Regular cyclists have half the risk of coronary heart disease compared to those who are inactive.
- 1.1 million people in the UK already cycle to work because they know that cycle commuting is fast, door-to-door, great exercise, enjoyable and the ultimate green commuter choice. Urban areas are frequently congested which means it is often quicker to cycle for three miles or less.
- Cycling is often the best way to travel when commuting to and from work or for shopping especially for journeys of 5 miles or less. It is often quicker than the congestion of traffic jams when commuting.
