Claiming Your Grant
Once you have been awarded the DfES School Travel Plan grant, you are responsible for drawing down the money. You do not have to wait until you know how you wish to spend the money. You have 3 years in which to spend it, starting from your application date.
The grant is a one-off payment - schools can only claim it once.
The grant is paid as an addition to your school's allocation of Devolved Formula Capital Grant. The LEAs are responsible for checking how the money is spent by schools, so money is banked by LEAs, to then be drawn down by the schools.
In order to draw down your allocated funds, you must complete and return a Capital Projects Approval Form (inc. Appendix A)
You must enter the amount you were allocated into the box marked "Devolved Formula Capital assoc. with School Travel Grant".
For any queries regarding your grant allocation or how to draw down the money, please contact your School Travel Plan adviser or the Capital Strategy team on 01392 382531.
Please note: This does not apply to VA schools. For further information on how to draw down your funds, please contact Richard Power at the Church of England Diocesan Education Office on 01392 294952. The Roman Catholic Diocesan Education Office can be contacted on 01392 671320.
