Physical Disability

If you have a physical disability or long-term illness we can provide support and advice to you and your carer that may help you to live more independently.

The Devon Strategic Partnership for People with Physical and Sensory Disabilities and Acquired Brain Injury is responsible for overseeing the planning of services for adults with:

  • Physical Disabilities
  • Sensory Disabilities (including Deaf people who use sign language)
  • Acquired Brain Injury

The Disability Information Service is a dedicated telephone support line for people with physical and sensory disabilities and acquired brain injury based at the Customer Service Centre

Disability Discrimination Act 1995 Part 3 - Access to Goods and Services

On 1 October 2006, the final stages of Part 3 of this Act came into force.  2 million businesses and public sector services have to take reasonable action to ensure disabled people can use them. See the Equality and Human Rights Commission for more information.
