Abandoned and End of Life Vehicles
Public Land
District Councils have a duty to remove abandoned vehicles. If you are aware of a vehicle which appears to have been abandoned please report it to your local District Council. The District Council will normally removed abandoned vehicles after they have undertaken various checks on the registered keeper and confirmed that the vehicle is abandoned.
Please note the fact that if a vehicle has no road tax it does not automatically mean it has been abandoned and the District Council will not always be able to remove it.
Private Land
The District Council may also remove abandoned vehicles from private land with the consent of the land owner.
End of Life Vehicles
It is the responsibility of every vehicle owner to ensure that their vehicles are disposed of responsibly when they are no longer required, please see www.recycleyourcar.co.uk to find your nearest authorised vehicle dismantler.
