Emergency Plans

Flooding

Devon County Council is responsible for providing detailed plans to respond to anticipated and actual flood events. A Major Incident Plan (MIP) is prepared for specific locations where a)signficant numbers of properties are located in the floodplain and b) the Environment Agency can provide a suitable warning period. Each MIP, see table below, details arrangements for warning the public and evacuation, should that be required.

The Environment Agency provide a flood warning service and are responsible for the implementation and maintenance of flood defences.

The County Council through its operational depots across Devon has responsibility to ensure that roads are clear and that water is drained from roads.
