New bus for Tavistock support group
From Pam Newby, Exeter 383654, June 23,2008
Tavistock Area Services (TASS) has a new bus thanks to funding from Devon County Council's West Devon County Committee.
The eight County Committees have budgets from which Committee Members can allocate grants to local community groups or projects which will make a big difference to people's lives, in line with the Council's Strategic Plan.
TASS provides a range of services for the over 55s including a programme of outings.
The proposal to support the project came from Tavistock County Cllr Roy Connelly and Yelverton Rural County Cllr Alan Hosking. The committee agreed to contribute £1,500 towards the cost.
Cllr Connelly said: "I am delighted that we are able to support TASS in securing a new bus which will assist them in building upon the excellent services that they already provide for the over 55s and others."
Cllr Hosking said: "This is exactly the sort of initiative that the County Committee funding is designed to support and I am delighted that we have been able to put this money towards this worthwhile project."
Note to Editors:
Cllr Connelly will visit the TASS office at The Anchorage Centre in Tavistock next Friday, June 27 at 10.30am to inspect the new bus.
