Best Selling Author comes to Newton Abbott

The international, best selling author, RJ Ellory whose latest novel was recommended in Channel 4's Richard and Judy's bookclub is visiting Newton Abbot library on September 16th

Mr. Ellory will be talking to readers and answering questions on his work from 7pm. Tickets are available from the library.

'A Quiet belief' which was featured on the Richard and Judy programme sold over 250,000 copies, placing the novel 3rd on the Sunday Times Best Sellers list and was translated into 15 languages

His first published novel Candlemoth was shortlisted for the Crime Writers Association (CWA) Ian Fleming Steel Dagger Award in 2003.

Candlemoth was translated into German, Dutch and Italian, and has now also been purchased for translation in Sweden.

His fourth novel, City of Lies was also shortlisted in 2006 for the CWA Awards.

Earlier this year he addressed a roomful of librarians at the annual Library Show at the NEC - and Newton Abbot librarian Linda Roland-Howe was so inspired by him she persuaded to come along to speak to readers in Devon. "He was interesting, entertaining and very pro-library" she said.

Councillor Sheila Hobden, the County Council's Executive Member for Culture says; "We extend a warm welcome to Mr.Ellory. I am sure the evening will be well received by local residents and fans of his books. The visiting authors programme has been a prominent feature of our library service this year and long may it continue"

In celebration of the National Year of Reading Devon libraries has had a full programme of bringing authors and their readers together to talk and ask questions. For a chance to hear R J Ellory speak about his work, life as a "Richard and Judy" star, his new book A Simple Act of Violence and purchase his works, come along to Newton Abbot Library on September 16th.
