Disability Information Service

The Disability Information Service is a new service for disabled residents, their families and carers throughout Devon. The service is part of the MyDevon Customer Service Centre.
There are three advisers within the Customer Service Centre dedicated to disability related issues, two of whom are disabled themselves and so have first hand experience of some of the difficulties that disabled people are faced with.
The Disability Information Service will be a holistic service providing information, help and support across a wide range of issues and services utilising the many agencies already in place in Devon. These will include Social Services, Care and Repair, Action for Blind People and the Department for Work and Pensions local offices for benefit advice, to name but a few.
The service sits alongside Care Direct but is a separate entity. One of the many challenges is to draw together the information gained from research and personal experience and to put this into an easily accessible format to enable us as advisers to provide a knowledgeable and efficient information service to the people of Devon.
