Council Tax

One of the key elements of finance used to pay for the County Council’s day-to-day revenue expenditure is Council Tax.

District Councils collect Council Tax from payers on behalf of all the local authorities operating in their area - including the County Council.

Local Government finance is a complex issue and Council Tax rates are dependent upon levels of direct grant provided by central Government to the County Council, our share of National non-Domestic Rates (Business Rates) and the level of expenditure that is approved by elected Members.
