Drugs ( Including Alcohol ) Misuse

Devon Social Services have social workers who can help people who have drug or alcohol related problems, and their families.

These social workers are part of joint agency teams operating under the new Devon Partnership Trust (Health). People who have drug or alcohol related problems can be referred to them through their General Practitioner, the Probation Service or (for ENDAS) the Exeter Drugs Project.

Addaction Devon Alcohol Intervention Service offers a confidential and free counselling support and advice to individuals, principally for alcohol problems but also for a combination of alcohol and drug problems. Services offered include advice and information, assessment, referral for detoxification, one-to-one counselling, onward referral to other agencies and referral to specialist health services.

The North Devon Alcohol Intervention Service is a community based rapid response alcohol intervention service covering the North Devon and Torridge area. The confidential service provides advice and information, assessment, one-to-one motivational interventions, group work and onward referral where appropriate.

Referrals are normally made through GPs and other specialist agencies but self-referrals are also accepted. The project also offers alcohol awareness training to other agencies.
